Today was the last full day my parents had with Matthew before going back home to Spain.
We decided to take some photo’s together of the family:
Today, my mum cooked a roast for everyone. Auntie Jacquie came around for dinner.
Matthew needed a bath. We let Nanny bath him.
William also wanted a look in and wanted some photo’s taken with Matthew.
Another night that was pretty bad. Every time we put Matthew down to sleep, he would wake up.
However, it was a bit better than the previous night, we managed to get some sleep between 3am and 5am.
My parents arrived (from Karen’s) and we had a cooked breakfast together.
The weather today was very warm and sunny so we all went in to Farnborough for a few bits and pieces.
When we got home, Karen had arrived, then Ian and Amanda came. They all went out and took William with them, leaving myself, ilke, Matthew and ilke’s parents. We had some sleep in the afternoon. Auntie Jacquie arrived a bit later too.
In the evening, we ordered a large chinese take-a-way from Peabody Road.
After dinner, ilke dressed Matthew and we took lots of photo’s with the family. We then opened a bottle of champagne and had a family photo together taken.
We had a very restless night with Matthew. As soon as we put him down to sleep, he was waking up again crying.
The midwife came at lunchtime today (Karen) and she was very pleased with both ilke and Matthew’s progress.
I went to Surrey County Council in Frimley and registered Matthew. He was registered as Matthew Atakan Norris, born 23rd April 2008.
Later that day, I went and picked up my parents from the train station. They came home and met Matthew. William stayed up to see them before going to bed.
Matthew’s first night at home wasn’t too bad. As he was laying in his crib in our room, he was regurgitating his milk a little and so woke up to that.
William woke up and was surprised to see the new addition to the family in our bed. He was very happy and very friendly towards Matthew and shared his cuddly toys and his car with him.

The midwife called and asked if everything was okay. We went to the hospital for a 11.45am appointment with the pediatrician to check to see if everything was okay. It was and on the way home we called in to Sycamore Nursery to pick up William. Everyone was pleased to see Matthew there.
Matthew slept most of the day, he was really good. He also had his first bath.
ilke woke me up about 4am saying she felt her first contraction. The were not very regular, so we monitored.
Later that morning, the contractions were more regular and she phoned the central delivery suite for advice. They asked her to come in for a check up.
At 13.30 we arrived at Frimley park hospital. We went in to room "I" in the suite and the midwife analysed her. The contractions started to become more regular.
At 16.00 ilke started the Entonox gas and air. At 17.25 she gave birth to Matthew weighing in at 6lb 15oz (William was 7lb 7oz).
He has lots of fair hair and his head circumference was 35cm, one less than what William’s head was at birth.
ilke’s labour was only 1 hour 20 minutes long and stage two was 5 minutes and 5 minutes in stage three. There were two midwifes, Ali and Sue. Sue was in her final year as a student Midwife and this was her 33rd delivery.

Matthew and ilke were discharged at 21.30, only 8 hours after arriving the hospital.
We arrived home to ilke’s parents who were eagerly waiting.
